The
smell of burnt oil and flooded carbs is always a great way to start the
morning, and on October 12th, that's exactly the way it came together for
over 200 of Japans toughest rides.
Vannuys Custom Supplies and Camshafters Car Club conjoured up this great
event. Hot Rods from all over gathered up near Mt. Fuji, and although the
weather was acting up a bit in the early morning, "scarring away all those
wanna-be rodders." it calmed down and left a slight drizzle here and there
in throughout the day.
The days festivities included, ofcourse, Killer rides along music, food,
drinks, cars for sale, swap meets, and car parts. The best part of the show
for me was listening to the cars slowly creep up then fire out like a pack
of black cat firecrackers. The Usual clubs were there, Hot Heads, Diablos,
Mary Poppins. My buddies "The Hot Rod Cats" took the stage for a set of
the coolest rock-a-billy around.
There were so many sleds that I don't even think I got to see them all,
but one that really got my attention was a 1934 5 window coupe from Kyoto.
This cool cat drove his crazycreation over 6 hours from Kyoto to Mt. Fuji.
That boy deserves a medal!!! Stories like that 5 window coupe really make
this show stand out amoung the others. Keep up the good work Vannuys and
Camshafters. (Louie Salinas)
